CNRS, the French national Centre for scientific research, is a public basic-research organization. It has 25 911 employees in 1 211 research and service units spread throughout the country and covers all fields of research. Interdisciplinary programs and actions offer a gateway into new domains of scientific investigation and enable CNRS to address the needs of society and industry.

CERMAV is an “UPR: Unité Propre de Recherche” du CNRS” laboratory created in 1966 under the supervision of CNRS. It is a fundamental research center devoted to Glycosciences, with strong and multidisciplinary expertise that spans from chemistry, physical-chemistry, biology to material sciences. Specifically, the main research area of CERMAV is devoted to the studies sugars, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, glycopolymers and glycomaterials. Although the goal of CERMAV is to conduct fundamental research on Glycosciences, it has strong relations with industries to develop innovative applications that valorize the biomass at the nanoscale using the “green chemistry tools” and the state-of-the-art techniques to characterize these ultra-high resolution nano-organized films obtained by self-assembly of plant-based materials for next generation opto- and bio-electronics.



CTP is the French industrial research Centre for the pulp & paper industry with a staff of 130. The turnover (2011) of 11.7 millions € relies on 40% funding by the French Ministry of Industry and 60% through research contracts. CTP’s main mission is to develop and transfer technical and scientific knowledge towards pulp & paper, printing and converting industries through: research expertise and facilities at both laboratory and pilot-plant levels, interaction with the industry and close co-operation with the other pulp & paper research institutes in Europe and world-wide and with related national research laboratories (Grenoble-INP, CNRS, CEA, INRA).



VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is a non-profit government organization. VTT is a multi-technological research organization providing high-end technology solutions and innovation services. VTT Group is the largest public applied research activity in Northern Europe with a staff of 2800 and turnover M€280. VTT has 70 years of experience in addressing the needs of industry and the knowledge-based society. VTT has participated in more than 1000 European R&D Framework Program projects, within various thematic programs.



LUND University (U-Lund) founded in 1666 is one of the biggest universities in Northern Europe and the largest in Scandinavia and is in several international rankings consistently listed as one of the top-100 universities. LUND University has 47000 students and about 700 staff. LUND University is a full university with an annual turnover of about 700 million Euros.



PCAS is a French group specialized in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of fine chemicals (for markets human and veterinary pharmaceuticals, perfumery, cosmetics, and agrochemicals) and specialties (for electronic markets, photography, graphic arts, glass, industrial lubricants and additives).

PCAS has resources and facilities for research and development tailored to the industrialization of products or processes and production tools for manufacturing a wide range of products with high technological content in amounts ranging up several hundred tons.



The Department of ‘Technology Design and Development’ (FG10) is part of the Faculty for Production Engineering at University of Bremen which has a focus on materials and production processes. The FG 10 mainly deals with environment, health, and safety issues and thereby follows the general approach of ‘Industrial Ecology’ that is to achieve sustainability through integrating the industrial systems of the technosphere into the carrying capacities of natural systems.



Obducat Technologies AB is a Swedish based company with a history in the micro- and nanotechnology field since 1989. Obducat was the first company to commercialize Nano Imprint Lithography (NIL) and Electron Beam Recorder (EBR). Today Obducat is the market leader and have the largest installed base worldwide of NIL systems. All nano imprint lithography systems from Obducat are equipped with full area imprint capability, using the patented Soft Press technology. This technology has proven to enable replication of very small features, with very thin and uniform residual layers on a variety of different substrates such as silicon, III/V materials such as GaN and flexible substrates. Obducat has technologies for both thermal NIL and UV-NIL. Obducat also has the unique and patented Simultaneous Thermal and UV (STU®) imprint process, which combines the benefits of both the thermal process and the UV process in one single process. In addition, Obducat has developed and patented the Intermediate Polymer Stamp (IPS®) technology, where the stamp is replicated into a soft polymer, which is then used to make the final imprint on the target substrate. This technology enables a high yield level and a significantly longer master stamp lifetime compared to direct imprint.

TNO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek TNO) is one of the major contract research organisations in Europe. With a staff of approximately 3500 and an annual turnover of 580 million Euros, TNO is carrying out research in order to achieve impact on the following fife themes: Industry, Healthy Living, Urbanisation, Energy, and Defence, Safety and Security.

TNO functions as an intermediary between basic research organisations and industry. By translating scientific knowledge into practical applications, TNO contributes to the innovation capacity of businesses and government. TNO is involved in many international projects (about 30% of the market turnover), including EU-funded collaborations.

In the theme of Industry applied research is carried out for a wide range of industrial branches. The expertise covers the whole process from basic (material) research, design and engineering to manufacturing and testing of products and systems.

The research group of Materials Solutions has main activities in the field of advanced functional materials and coatings directed to sensing and light management in opto-electronic devices (nanostructures for improved in- and out-coupling of light). The competence of Materials Solutions relevant to this project are the production, stabilization and characterization of nanomaterials in dispersion, formulation and coating systems. Furthermore, the specific knowledge of single layer anti-reflective coatings and the domain knowledge on anti-reflection coatings are of importance.


The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory- INL is an Intergovernmental Organisation created to foster interdisciplinary research in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience. Aiming to become a vital part of Europe’s scientific area, INL provides a high-tech research environment addressing major challenges in nanomedicine, nanotechnology applied to environmental & food control nanoelectronics, and nanomachines and molecular manipulation at nanoscale.


CSEM is a privately held Swiss research and technology organization delivering advanced technologies and R&D services to industrial partners.  Targeting emerging strategic, high-impact technologies, CSEM enables innovative products and creates new ventures. Bridging the gap between industrial innovation needs and applied basic research is core to the company . CSEM’s technologies are able to address the needs of a wide range of markets and application areas, such as biotech & life-sciences, home & industrial control, energy, environment, security and surveillance. CSEM was established in 1984 in Neuchâtel. It currently has over 440 employees, located in 5 centers in Switzerland. Its geographical proximity to the Swiss and European industrial bases rich in small and medium size companies enables it to be exposed to, and familiar with, the needs of industry in general and of SMEs in particular

The CSEM has the competencies required to support its clients at different stage of development and  it provides the following services according to their needs following a project-based contract research:

  • o Feasibility studies and proof of concept
  • o Process development, prototype to small series production
  • o IP licensing and any combination of the above

CSEM technology platforms include MEMs, Systems, Ultra low power, PV and Surface Engineering, which include activities in Printable electronics and photovoltaics. CSEM printable electronic and photovoltaic capabilities include clean room laboratories (over 400m2, class 10K). The facilities provide a flexible, proof of concept and prototyping environment to our innovation partners. The versatile equipment enables a range of projects from first-in-kind realizations to process prototyping for industrial transfers, including screen printing, gravure, ink-jet  and slot-die coating systems dedicated to printable electronics, glove box tools for OLED/OPV/OTFT fabrication, micro and nano structuration, thin film organic and inorganic layer deposition  as well as dedicated surface and printed electronic metrology.
